April 21, 2023

EMC applauds today’s announcement regarding the new Volkswagen battery plant to be built in St. Thomas, Ontario.
April 21, 2023 – Electric Mobility Canada (EMC) applauds today’s announcement regarding the new Volkswagen battery plant to be built in St. Thomas, Ontario. The association realizes it took significant effort, energy and funds to attract the largest automotive investment in the history of this country.
“In this very rapid transition to an electric automotive industry and in light of the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act, the government of Canada had to act quickly and decisively to attract Volkswagen, one of the two largest automakers in the world,” said Daniel Breton, president and CEO of EMC. “This is an investment that will last for generations to come. Volkswagen is serious about the EV transition and their commitment to Canada shows that our country is serious about electric transportation, clean energy and sustainable job creation.”
