Committees & Working Groups
Membership in working groups of Electric Mobility Canada is open to all ‘Voting Members’ and subject to approval by the Board of Directors.
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee provides financial oversight for EMC including budgeting, financial planning and financial reporting; as well as the creation and monitoring of internal controls and accountability policies.
Participation in this committee is restricted to board members.

Membership Stewardship Committee
The Membership Stewardship Committee provides insights regarding membership issues to maintain EMC’s focus on serving its members and supporting membership engagement activities. This committee provides recommendations to the Board of Directors on ongoing and emerging opportunities to foster and promote member value while recognizing the diverse membership categories and their range of interests.
Participation in this committee is restricted to board members.

Governance and Nominations Committee
The Governance and Nominations Committee provides insights regarding EMC’s governance structure and provides recomendations regarding the nomination and election process of EMC’s Board of Directors.

Human Resources Committee
The Human Resources Committee’s primary purpose is to assist the Board in fulfilling its responsibilities related to human resources policies, practices, and oversight of the President & CEO’s performance and compensation. The Committee ensures that EMC maintains effective and appropriate HR practices aligned with the organization’s mission, values, and strategic objectives.
Participation in this committee is restricted to board members.

National Government Relations Working Group
The Government Relations Working Group works with all levels of government and external stakeholders to advance public policies that will support the strategic acceleration of the transition to electric mobility across Canada and to further support EMC’s reputation as a trusted and independent source of policy advice on electric mobility in Canada.

Charging Infrastructure Task Force
The Charging Infrastructure Working Group’s mandate is to identify gaps, barriers, and opportunities, and prioritize solutions needed to support Canada’s transition to electric mobility while also defining best practices in infrastructure development, based on experience, from charging service operators to end users. The scope includes infrastructure for light-duty vehicles and for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles as well as off-road vehicles.

Medium and Heavy Duty Working Group
The Medium- and Heavy Duty Working Group works to advance public policy that will accelerate the electrification of the Medium- and Heavy-Duty vehicle sector in Canada, and supports EMC’s reputation as a trusted and independent source of policy advice on Medium- and Heavy-Duty electrification in Canada.

Battery Working Group
The Battery Working Group works to identify and prioritize public policies in Canada related to EV batteries and work towards developing positions and strategies to advance those public policies.

Utility Working Group
The Utility Working Group works to share information and build relationships with colleagues at other utilities. This committee provides utility-specific input into EMC policy decisions, explores and develops policy positions related to utility infrastructure needed to support electric mobility, and provides other EMC members with an avenue to provide utilities with information through webinars and other events.

Research, Education, and Training Working Group
The Research, Education, and Training Working Group supports the growth of Canada’s electric mobility workforce. Its mandate is to identify, prioritize, and accelerate the development of workforce skills, training programs, and applied research that define the competencies required across the evolving EV ecosystem.

Ontario Working Group
The Ontario Working Group’s mandate is to advance public policy that will accelerate the electrification in the province of Ontario. The Working Group also supports EMC’s reputation as a trusted and independent source of policy advice to the Ontario government and Ontario’s political parties.
