EMC’s top 10 priority pre-election recommendations

Electric Mobility Canada (EMC) outlines ten key policy recommendations to accelerate Canada’s transition to electric mobility.

Electric Mobility Canada (EMC) outlines ten key policy recommendations to accelerate Canada’s transition to electric mobility.

These include reinstating Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) purchase incentives with a predictable phase-out schedule, strengthening EV charging infrastructure across the country, and supporting the ZEV Availability Standard to ensure Canadians have access to affordable electric vehicles.

EMC also calls for the adoption of a similar standard for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, strategic collaboration with First Nations on critical mineral development, investment in consumer awareness and workforce training, and the development of a robust domestic EV supply chain.

Additional priorities include implementing clean procurement policies, maintaining Clean Fuel Regulations to incentivize EV charging infrastructure, and ensuring trade policies support — rather than hinder — the growth of Canada’s e-mobility sector.

EMC urges targeted exemptions in any retaliatory tariffs, the expansion of investment tax credits, and reduced interprovincial regulatory barriers to stimulate innovation and infrastructure development.
