Electric Mobility Canada (EMC) submitted its priority policy recommendations on transportation electrification to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance for the 2024 pre-budget consultations. The document contains 40 core recommendations to advance and accelerate transportation electrification in Canada. Electrification reduces air pollution, harmful to human health and to ecosystems, and contributes to reducing GHG emissions to help fight climate change while offering significant economic development opportunities. EMC’s recommendations are grouped under 6 segments:

1. Light-duty vehicles (6 recommendations)
2. Medium-, heavy-duty and off-road vehicles (6 recommendations)
3. Charging infrastructure (10 recommendations)
4. Federal regulation (3 recommendations)
5. Canadian EV action plan (9 recommendations)
6. Federal leadership (6 recommendations)

EMC recognizes the impressive efforts that the federal government has done to make Canada a global player, with many new programs and projects announced to support the acceleration of the EV industry in our country. These recommendations aim to help Canada rise to the top with other leaders.

Canada has the natural resources, the qualified workforce, the universities and research centers, and has demonstrated the will to develop its own world-class EV industry.
