Following a successful national conference (EVVE 2024) in Halifax, Daniel Breton, President & CEO of Electric Mobility Canada (EMC), and Christopher May, Director of Advocacy, set out on a tour of the Atlantic provinces to meet with legislators, civil service and EMC members. The meetings were informative and insightful. The EMC team shared their industry priorities including, charging strategy, provincial ZEV mandates and skills training.

  • EMC member BlueGrid, whose CEO, Trevor Hennigar, coordinated the e-marine showcase at EVVE 2024
  • Staff from EMC member Clean Foundation – President & CEO, CEO, Scott Skinner and Vice President, Erin Burbridge
  • Andrew Murphy, Executive Director Nova Scotia Environment and Anthony Weatherby, Acting Executive Director – Climate Change.
  • Peter Bevan-Baker, MLA and PEI Green Party’s green energy critic.
  • Brian Matheson, Deputy Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, and Norbert Carpenter, Deputy Minister of Environment, Energy, and Climate Action, along with staff from each department
  • Robert Henderson, PEI MLA with Official Opposition the Liberal Caucus and Chair of the Standing Committee on Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability
  • Nova Scotia’s Official Opposition Leader, Zach Churchill. Mr. Churchill slipped out of Province House to meet with Chris and during the meeting they discussed the importance of a provincial EV charging strategy along with the need for a NS ZEV mandate to ensure the availability of EVs in Nova Scotia. They also discussed the importance of upgraded skills training for technicians and electricians to seize the opportunity presented by the green economy and electrification.
