Electric Mobility Canada supports the Government of British Columbia for wanting to keep its EV mandate. That being said, EMC doesn’t agree with the fact that it now simply wants to follow the federal government on EV sales targets. In the past, BC was an EV sales leader and did not wait for the federal government to adopt its own EV sales regulation. Where has that leadership gone? What will happen if the federal government decides to repeal its regulation or adopt a weak EV sales target? Will the BC government simply follow the federal government in the wrong direction?

The new ZEV Affordability Program, which recognizes the importance of making EVs more accessible to British Columbians through lower prices, financing options, and charging infrastructure investments is a step in the right direction to accelerate the adoption of clean transportation but also support affordability and choice for drivers across the province, including those in rural and remote communities.
