PROJECT OVERVIEW

The LDV Fleet Resource Hub is a regional education and capacity-building initiative designed to accelerate the electrification of light duty vehicle (LDV) fleets operated by municipalities, public agencies, institutions, utilities and commercial organizations.

Many fleet decision makers face uncertainty about charging infrastructure, operational integration, winter performance, fleet planning and early engagement with utilities. The Hub provides a structured support system to address these gaps through curated resources, facilitated regional cohorts and guidance for fleet participants.

The project will launch two regional hubs during the funding period: a Prairie Hub (AB, SK, MB) and a Maritime Hub (NB, PEI, NS). While the initial focus is on LDVs, the project will lay the foundation for expansion to include medium and heavy duty fleets in a subsequent phase.

The goal is to equip fleet operators with the knowledge, confidence and step-by-step tools required to efficiently initiate charging infrastructure projects, from planning to design and implementation. The Hub model combines a national online repository with locally grounded engagement activities tailored to regional utilities, climate conditions and market realities.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES

1. Provide LDV fleet operators with practical and accessible charging education.
2. Reduce information gaps related to charging infrastructure planning, site readiness and operational
   considerations.
3. Support early and effective engagement between fleets, utilities and service providers.
4. Build peer networks within priority regions to accelerate shared learning and reduce duplication of effort.
5. Increase confidence and intention to act among fleet decision makers through structured guidance.
6. Produce measurable improvements in fleet charging project readiness across participating organizations.
7. Establish a scalable model that can be expanded to additional regions and vehicle classes in future phases.

EXPECTED OUTPUTS

Two active regional hubs serving the Prairies and Maritime provinces.

• A public, curated online repository with at least 25 vetted resources and 6 new checklists or guides
• At least 12 cohort sessions and workshops delivered across both hubs
• Intake guidance for participating fleets
• Case briefs illustrating fleet project journeys from assessment to procurement
• Final KPI report summarizing knowledge gains, participation, project outcomes and lessons learned
• A structured model ready for replication in additional regions or expanded to MHDV fleets

LONG-TERM IMPACT

This initiative will raise awareness, build confidence and accelerate adoption of LDV fleet electrification across Canada’s underserved regions. The regional hub model reduces fragmentation, provides trusted guidance and supports the development of replicable charging project pathways that fleets can adapt across sites and vehicle types. The project establishes a scalable foundation for future work on MHDV fleets and additional regions not covered in this phase.
