A new, lower rate for charging providers would incentivize companies to accelerate the installation of new charging stations across the province, particularly in rural areas and regions that have not experienced the high EV adoption rates that have been realized across other parts of Ontario.
“We commend the Ontario government for recognizing the need to provide Ontarians with greater accessibility to public charging infrastructure. Electric Mobility Canada looks forward to the proposed options from the Ontario Energy Board to reduce electricity rates for charging providers”, states Daniel Breton, President & CEO of Electric Mobility Canada.
Ontario has emerged as a global leader for EV supply chain investments, so it is essential that its charging infrastructure aligns with other provinces such as Quebec and British Columbia. Electric Mobility Canada looks forward to collaborating with the Ontario government on initiatives like the Electric Vehicle Charger Discount Electricity Rate that supports the complete transition to electric mobility.
