EMC Statement re B.C. Government ZEV Standard Announcement
November 21, 2019 – Premier John Horgan has announced that the Government of British Columbia, in partnership with the B.C. Green caucus, will introduce legislation next spring to phase in targets for the sale of zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs).
Recognizing that one of the paths to decarbonization of transportation is through the adoption of electric mobility, Electric Mobility Canada is encouraged by the decision of the B.C. Government to support British Columbians in their shift to electric vehicles.
EMC looks forward to working with the B.C. Government as it develops its plan to support the increased adoption of ZEVs by expanding its network of public charging stations, increasing the provincial incentive program, increasing consumer education, and making ZEVs a more affordable option for middle- and lower-income British Columbians.
“We applaud the B.C. government’s initiative to expand demand-stimulating measures to accompany the ZEV standard to ensure that a growing number of British Columbians adopt ZEVs” stated Catherine Kargas, President and CEO of Electric Mobility Canada.
