Daniel Breton

President and CEO / Electric Mobility Canada

• Former environment minister of Québec, he was the first elected official responsible for a governmental EV strategy in Canada
• He graduated in sustainable carbon management and wrote 5 books on the subject of electric mobility and energy transition over the last 12 years.
• Starting in 2004, he has been the first to specialize in green vehicles in the Canadian media
• He is now President and CEO of Electric Mobility Canada, an association dedicated to the acceleration of the electrification of all modes of transportation.

Benoit Charrette

Minister of the Environment and the Fight Against Climate Change

Born in Saint-Jérôme on July 19, 1976, Benoit Charette has been Member of the National Assembly for the Deux-Montagnes riding in the Laurentides region since December 8, 2008. He was appointed Minister of the Environment and the Fight against Climate Change on January 8, 2019.

After graduating from the École nationale d’administration publique and Université du Québec à Montréal, Minister Charette got involved early on in international work, first as a volunteer aid worker in Haiti in 1995 then at the Délégation générale du Québec in Mexico City and the Ministère des Relations internationales du Québec. He subsequently became a program manager at the Agence intergouvernementale de la Francophonie.

Mr. Charette’s social engagement includes his role as Executive Director of the Forum jeunesse des Laurentides from 2003 to 2005. Subsequently and until 2008, he served as Local Programs Manager for the Jules and Paul-Émile Léger Foundation. Over the years he has been a member of the Boards of Directors of several community organizations.

Mr. Charrette held numerous positions at the National Assembly of Québec, including as Chiefs of Staff for the 2nd Opposition Whip and Leader from 2012 to 2014. Prior to his appointment to Cabinet, he served as Chair of the Committee on Institutions,, as well as a member of the Committee on the National Assembly and the Committee on Culture and Education. Mr. Charette is also the proud father of three children.

Neetika Sathe is VP of Alectra’s Green Energy & Technology Centre (GRE&T Centre) where she leads innovation projects in the energy industry. GRE&T Centre is Alectra's latest step to be at the forefront of exciting industry changes to make energy innovations come to life by identifying, developing and accelerating emerging, clean, and customer-friendly energy solutions.

Elise Benoit

Vice President, Marketing / Enel X

With over 20 years of marketing experience, Elise Benoit has spent her career developing successful B2C and B2B marketing strategies for high-growth technology companies including AutoGrid, ICE Energy, Opower (acquired by Oracle), CivicSolar, Autodesk, Ask Jeeves and others. With roots in developing lead generation programs for radio networks like CBS, she scaled opportunities to support e-commerce and corporate sales channels. As VP of Marketing, Elise leads the e-mobility marketing for the North American market.

Carter Li

CEO / Swtch Energy

Carter Li is the CEO at SWTCH Energy Inc. Prior to SWTCH, Carter was a management consultant at Deloitte in their energy and financial services practices where he led digital transformation projects across North America. Carter is a board member of the Ontario Clean Technology Industry Association and the Electric Mobility Canada Government Relations Committee. Carter attended McGill University for his BSc and PhD and the University of Chicago for his MBA.

Geneviève Grenier

Vice president, Chief Strategy and Business Performance / FLO

Among her many professional accomplishments, she was Co-General Director and Chief Strategy Officer at BBDO Montreal. In 2015, Geneviève founded La Famille, a consulting firm dedicated to helping organizations find clarity and make the best decisions with their corporate positioning, growth plan, go-to-market, product and marketing strategies. It was in this capacity that she helped AddEnergie launch the strong and widely recognized FLO network.

Eddy Zuppel

Program Leader, Vehicle Propulsion Technologies / National Research Council Canada

Eddy earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University. He started his professional career in the transportation industry where, for eleven years, he held positions of increasing responsibility including Section Chief of a multidisciplinary team responsible for the development of specialized vehicles. Eddy joined the National Research Council of Canada in 2015 and has since managed, notably as a Program Leader, projects and programs related to clean transportation technologies.

Soeren Striepe

Senior Manager, R&D / Magna International

Dr. Soeren Striepe is currently Senior Manager with Magna International. Striepe’s focus is on electrified powertrain systems and advanced battery technologies. Striepe has 20 years of expertise in R&D, product development, manufacturing and business development in the global automotive industry with Magna and previously with Volkswagen. Throughout his career, Striepe has led project teams that developed and introduced advanced powertrain products to the market. Striepe received his Advanced Engineering Degree from University of Kassel, Germany.

Karim Zaghib

Strategic Advisor / Investissement Québec

Dr. Karim Zaghib is a world-renowned scientist who specializes in energy storage and the electrification of transportation. His many seminal scientific publications in these fields have earned him numerous honours and distinctions. He is regularly invited to take part in international conferences as an expert speaker to address issues involving energy storage and new battery technologies.

François Adam

General Manager / Innovative Vehicle Institute

M. Adam is the co-founder and CEO of the Innovative Vehicle Institute, an applied research and innovation center affiliated to CEGEP Saint-Jérôme. He works on electric vehicle development since 2002. Over the last 15 years, his team was involved in the development of more than 20 electric vehicle platforms of all types and sizes. He is a board member of InnovÉÉ and Propulsion Québec and the co-chair of Propulsion Québec R&D and Innovation working group.

Charlotte Argue

Senior Manager, Fleet Electrification / Geotab

Charlotte has focused on accelerating EV adoption for the last ten years. Previously she managed the Plug-In BC program with the Fraser Basin Council, leading several provincial initiatives that supported EV charging infrastructure, fleet uptake and EV awareness. She is now the senior manager of fleet electrification with Geotab, a global leader in fleet telematics and connected vehicles. In this role, Charlotte enables EV uptake through data-driven fleet management software.

Kunal Phalpher

Chief Commercial Officer / Li-Cycle

Kunal Phalpher is the Chief Commercial Officer of Li-Cycle Corp. Kunal has been involved with Li-Cycle since 2017, first as an Advisor, then as a Board member and since 2018 as an executive team member. Kunal brings extensive international experience in the lithium-ion battery and renewable energy sectors to Li-Cycle, with experience primarily in business development and corporate strategy. 

His recent experience, prior to joining Li-Cycle, includes working as a Director of Product Development at a residential solar company and Director of Business Development with a lithium-ion battery manufacturer. Kunal earned his Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto and holds a Master of Business Administration from the Rotman School of Management.

Yves Noël

Chief Business Development Officer / Lithion Recycling Inc.

Yves is a chemical engineer who also earns an MBA degree. He has been successful as a business development executive in the value added specialized additives related to the high technology applications and also in general management for over 25 years. His entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen allow him to seek mutually beneficial solutions with partners and stakeholders.

Ben Yu

Mineral Processing Team Lead / NRC

Ben Yu is the team lead for the Mineral Processing team of the Energy, Mining, and Environment (EME) Research Centre of NRC. The team focuses on extracting battery metals (Li, Co, Mn, and Ni) from primary and secondary sources; with an emphasis on lithium-ion battery recycling. Prior to joining NRC, Ben held the position of Senior Metallurgist with SGS Lakefield, Ontario where he focused on the process development of critical metals.

Pierre Ducharme

President / MARCON-Miratech

Pierre is a certified management consultant and certified strategist. President of MARCON-MIRATECH, he is an acclaimed expert in the traditional and alternative energy and transportation sectors and provides services to utilities, governments and private companies. Pierre is the author of several important books in the transportation sector and currently advises fleet operators on vehicle selection and infrastructure.

Ted Dowling

Vice President / BYD Canada

Ted Dowling, BYD Canada’s Vice President, is an industry veteran with extensive experience bringing transit solutions to market. Dowling oversees BYD’s business in Canada. Prior to joining BYD in 2016, he was director of USSC Group, a company that designs and engineers seating for many types of vehicles. With international business experience, he has set up partnerships between foreign and North American businesses in the transportation industry in Australia, South Korea, Sweden, UK, Ireland, Belgium and China. Ted is also a Board Member of EMC and Ontario Public Transit Association, among other transportation and business organizations and a member of the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame.

Marc Bédard

President and Founder / Lion Electric

Marc Bédard has always been passionate about technology, innovation, and the world of finance. Bédard decided to follow his dream and passion to become an entrepreneur after many years as an M&A partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Senior Vice President at a major manufacturing company and founded the Lion Electric Co. in 2008 with the objective to make advanced technology in the transportation industry accessible to all. Lion manufactures innovative electric buses and trucks for a healthy breathing environment.

Nicolas Pocard

Director of Marketing / Ballard

Nicolas Pocard, Director of Marketing, brings to Ballard more 20 years of experience in business development and marketing at international level.Nicolas Pocard joined the fuel cell industry in 2004 and Ballard Power Systems in 2012. In 2014, he was appointed Director of Marketing at Ballard corporate headquarters in Vancouver. Among his responsibilities, Nicolas looks after corporate market strategy, marketing activities and government relations for Ballard.Nicolas Pocard is the Vice-Chair of the Board of the Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (CHFCA) and a Board member of the California Hydrogen Business Council (CHBC) and of the Canadian Urban Transit Research & Innovation Consortium (CUTRIC). He also represents Ballard with various Industry Associations and Government forums.Mr. Pocard holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from ESCOM (Paris) and a Master’s of Science from The Ohio State University (USA).

Jessica Lof

 MSc,Transition Accelerator / Canadian Energy Systems Analysis Research (CESAR)

Jessica Lof is a Research Lead - Hydrogen and Transportation for the CESAR initiative at the University of Calgary and is associated with the Transition Accelerator. Her research work explores low carbon pathways for Canada’s transportation systems and has contributed to the launch of the AZETEC project for hydrogen fuel cell electric class 8 trucks in Alberta.

Carolyn Kim

Director, Transportation / Pembina Institute

As transportation director with the Pembina Institute (Canada’s foremost energy, environment and climate think tank), Carolyn Kim brings over 10 years of public, private and not-for-profit policy and planning experience to her role leading research and engaging with stakeholders and partners to advance solutions to Canada’s most pressing transportation and planning issues while supporting the sustainable growth of Canada's economy and communities.

Miyuru Kannangara

Research Officer / National Research Council Canada

Miyuru Kannangara is a research associate with National Research Council Canada, specializing in sustainability assessment of zero emissions vehicles and clean technologies. His research involves life cycle assessment and technoeconomic assessment of electric vehicles, biofuels, bioproducts and carbon capture and conversion. Miyuru has a chemical engineering background with a PhD from Ecole Polytechnique Montreal, an M.Sc from Technical University Berlin and B.Sc from University of Moratuwa.

Theresa Cooke

VP Business Development / Siemens Canada Limited

Theresa leads business development for eMobility in Canada, including charging infrastructure, software and turnkey solutions. She holds a BSc in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo and a doctorate in neuroscience from the Max Planck Institute in Tuebingen, Germany. Her Siemens career has spanned management consulting in the US, offshore wind in Denmark, and strategy roles across North America. She is also responsible for Siemens Canada’s Engineering & Technology Academy (SCETA).
