Daniel Breton

President and CEO / Electric Mobility Canada


• Former environment minister of Québec, he was the first elected official responsible for a governmental EV strategy in Canada
• He graduated in sustainable carbon management and wrote 5 books on the subject of electric mobility and energy transition over the last 12 years.
• Starting in 2004, he has been the first to specialize in green vehicles in the Canadian media
• He is now President and CEO of Electric Mobility Canada, an association dedicated to the acceleration of the electrification of all modes of transportation.

The Honourable Navdeep Bains 

Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry - CANADA


The Honourable Navdeep Bains has been the Member of Parliament for Mississauga—Malton since 2015, and was previously the Member of Parliament for Mississauga—Brampton South from 2004 to 2011.

He has served as Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and was the Parliamentary Secretary to former Prime Minister Paul Martin. Previously, he was the critic for Public Works and Government Services, the Treasury Board, International Trade, Natural Resources, and Small Business and Tourism.

Before entering politics, he was a distinguished visiting professor at Ryerson University’s Ted Rogers School, and worked for several years in accounting and financial analysis for the Ford Motor Company of Canada.

Minister Bains has deep roots in his community, as a longtime resident of both Mississauga and Brampton, and has strong ties to the social and cultural associations of Mississauga—Malton. He has been active in a variety of community organizations, as a board member for the Mississauga Food Bank and an Ontario board member with the Heart and Stroke Foundation. He has also worked with JDRF, a diabetes research foundation, and the Guru Gobind Singh Children’s Foundation.

Minister Bains has received a number of awards recognizing his work in promoting diversity within his community, and he holds a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Finance.

Minister Bains has dedicated his time in Ottawa to growing the economy, strengthening the middle class, and creating new well-paying jobs for Canadians in Mississauga—Malton.

Theresa Dekker

Vice President, Corporate Business Development & Strategy - Ontario Power Generation


VP of Corporate Business Development and Strategy at Ontario Power Generation (OPG), accountable for development of OPG’s corporate strategy and various elements of execution. This involves understanding how the energy industry is evolving and how OPG can continue to be a leader in that transformation. Ms. Dekker is proud to oversee OPG’s Electrification Development team and sit on the board of the Ivy Charging Network, as Co-President.

John Weigelt

National Technology Officer, Microsoft Canada


John Weigelt leads Microsoft Canada’s strategic policy and technology efforts. Mr. Weigelt helps individuals and organizations across Canada innovate with technology while avoiding the unintended consequences that might arise. He is accountable for demonstrating how Microsoft cloud services exceed Canadian compliance requirements for government and other regulated industries. He also leads Microsoft Canada’s Responsible AI program and was one of the authors of Canada’s National Standard on Ethics in the Design and Use of Automated Decision Systems.

Charles Todd

Senior Director, Investment / Canada Infrastructure Bank


Charles has significant experience providing commercial and legal support to large construction and P3 projects across Canada. Most recently, Charles was Contracts Director for Crosslinx Transit Solutions, the consortium delivering the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, where he led the team responsible for all contractual aspects of the project. Prior to his mandate at Crosslinx, Charles was a senior lawyer and Commercial Director at Aecon Group Inc., where he supported Aecon’s most complex pursuits and projects. Charles started his career practicing corporate and commercial law at a large international law firm.

Mitchell is passionate about EVs; his work focuses on provisions related to EVs and other fuel switching under these upcoming regulations.

Philippe Vangeel

With great technology and brilliant people, Philippe Vangeel found his way as Secretary-General in one of the fastest-changing and growing technologies: electrical vehicles. An engineer by background, Philippe has always worked as a manager in the electronic sector. Preceding his role as a Secretary-General of AVERE, he has worked an innovative entrepreneur in e-retails, security and the medical sector. He is fluent in five languages: his native Flemish, English, French, Norwegian and German.

Bruce Lourie

BRUCE LOURIE, Ph.D. is president of the Ivey Foundation, a university lecturer, and author. He is a Director of the Canadian Institute for Climate Choices, Transition Accelerator, and formerly the Independent Electricity System Operator. Bruce is known for his pioneering work connecting health and environment through the phase-out of coal in Ontario and as co-author of the book “Slow Death by Rubber Duck”.

Angelo DiCaro

Angelo DiCaro is that National Director of Research for Unifor, Canada’s largest union in the private sector. Angelo leads the union’s sectoral research and policy work in the auto manufacturing and independent parts sector, among other areas, and was involved in recent contract negotiations with the Detroit 3. He is based in Toronto, Ontario.

Geneviève Dufour

Professor / Law Faculty at Sherbrooke University


Full Professor, Faculty of Law, Université de Sherbrooke and member of the Quebec Bar. Her research focuses on free trade issues as well as the interactions between trade, environmental law and human rights. She collaborates with many companies in the field of international trade law. Recipient of the Tremplin prize for her exceptional contribution to research, she is president of the Quebec Society of International Law.

Ben Sharpe

Senior Researcher and Canada Lead / The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT)


Dr. Ben Sharpe is a Senior Researcher in the ICCT’s Heavy-Duty Vehicle Program and also serves as Canada Lead for the organization. He is currently doing technical analyses to support ongoing policy development for reducing fuel consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and criteria pollutants from on-road vehicles. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Davis.

Sam Abuelsamid

Principal Analyst, E-Mobility, Guidehouse Insights


Sam Abuelsamid is a principal analyst leading Guidehouse Insights' E-Mobility Ecosystem Research Service with a focus on transportation electrification, automated driving and mobility services. With Guidehouse, Sam has worked with numerous clients to help them understand emerging technology trends and shape strategies. Sam regularly contributes to a number of publications including Autonomous Vehicle Engineering, Forbes and One Zero and co-hosts the Wheel Bearings podcast. Trained as a mechanical engineer, Sam worked in the automotive industry for more than two decades, developing advanced electronic control systems and embedded software. Prior to joining Guidehouse Insights (formerly Navigant Research) in 2014, Sam worked as an automotive journalist and in product and technology communications at Ford and GM.

Warren Ali

Senior Vice President of Innovation / APMA-Automotive Parts Manufacturers Association


Warren Ali is the Senior Vice President of Innovation for the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association (APMA) based in Toronto, Canada. Warren’s primary responsibility is to manage the APMA’s Connected and Autonomous Vehicle Testing and Demonstration Zone as part of the Province of Ontario’s Autonomous Vehicle Innovation Network (AVIN). He is Chair of the Digital Manufacturing Committee that is comprised of industry leaders from Global OEMs and Tier 1s along with SMEs and Global Leading Technology Startups.

Sarah Houde

President and CEO / Propulsion Québec


Sarah Houde started her career as a communications and public relations director and executive director in the private and non profit sectors. She then joined private equity firm XPND Capital as vice president of public and government affairs, steering a number of transport electrification projects. In 2017 she was named CEO of Quebec’s new cluster for electric and smart transportation.

The Honourable Seamus O’Regan

Minister of Natural Resources


The Honourable Seamus O’Regan was first elected as the Member of Parliament for St. John’s South—Mount Pearl in 2015.

Previously known to Canadians for his 10 years as co-host of CTV’s Canada AM, he was named one of Maclean’s Magazine’s “100 Young Canadians to Watch” in 1999, and was twice nominated for a Gemini Award. In 2007, he became the first journalist to be named to Canada’s Top 40 Under 40. In 2012, he was named Bell Let’s Talk Ambassador, alongside Clara Hughes, with the aim of removing the stigma of mental illness through greater communication and understanding.

Moneeb Durrani

Moneeb Durrani is Technical Sales Specialist - EV Charging Infrastructure – Canada, since September 2019. He is responsible for sales, account management and business development for eBus and eCar customers in Canada. Prior to his experience at ABB, Moneeb was an active member of the North American Young Generation in Nuclear (NAYGN) Executive committee and promoted clean energy to help in the fight against climate change. Moneeb is passionate about electric vehicles and is proudly promoting the electrification of transportation.

David Peterson

Director, Fleet Solutions / ChargePoint


David leads ChargePoint’s Fleet Solutions in North America focused on developing market-leading products and services for light, medium and heavy-duty electric vehicle fleets. David joined ChargePoint from Nissan where he led teams addressing workplace charging, urban fast charging and charging network roaming for LEAF drivers, as well as working on innovative mobility pilots.

Daniel Carr

Head, Smart Cities / Alectra Utilities


Daniel Carr is an experienced project developer with expertise in innovative, customer-facing energy program management, strategy development and policy advocacy. In his current role at Alectra Utilities as Head, Smart Cities, he develops and leads projects that bring new distributed energy technologies and concepts into practice, with a focus on electric mobility, demand response and electricity pricing. He is also Chair of the Board of the Clean Air Partnership, a Toronto-based environmental non-profit organization.

Maxime Charron

Maxime founded LeadingAhead Energy (LAE) with the objective of leaving the world in better shape than he found it. He always had a business and environmental mindset and through LAE has managed to combine the two in advising businesses on their investment in green technologies.
